Mexico´s Endangered Journalists

The office and home of journalist, poet, and indigenous rights advocate Mardonio Carballo was raided on September 5, 2017. The intruders cut a telephone cable in three pieces.

Carballo was recently an elected member of the Mexico City Constituent Assembly, but resigned because he believed that this assembly was discriminating against indigenous people. in 2014, he initiated a successful suit against a Federal law that banned the use of indigenous languages in the mass media. He is the author of the book Las Plumas de la Serpiente.
