Mireya Ulloa Valencia

Mireya Ulloa Valencia went home from her job at La Opinión de Poza Rica, after the March 11, 2020 edition was put to bed. As she was getting out of her car, in front of her garage, she was attacked by a man with a knife, who cut one of her arms. He said to her, “keep posting bullshit, and I’ll kill you next time.” She was assisted by emergency services, then taken to a private clinic, where she remains in stable condition.

Ulloa Valencia is the editorial director of La Opinión de Poza Rica.

La Opinión de Poza Rica has published an editorial criticizing the State Commission for the Attention and Protection of Journalists for classifying this attack as a robbery, when, in fact, her purse was not stolen, nor was any money or other personal belongings.
