Celebrating Literary Excellence: Honoring Four Outstanding Writers in Guanajuato.

This is an homage to four women writers from Guanajuato, including our own Lucina Kathmann from San Miguel PEN, along with Verónica Salazar García, Julia Martínez Martínez, and Galia Guillermina Razo Almanza. The tribute was organized by El Instituto Arte y Cultura de Celaya in collaboration with La Red Estatal de Tertulias Literarias Guanajuato José Luis Calderón Vela.

San Miguel PEN is proud to celebrate Galia Guillermina Razo Almanza, Julia Martínez Martínez, Lucina Kathmann, and Verónica Salazar García.


Galia Guillermina Razo Almanza is a journalist, teacher, and leader of the artistic collective Mitote por el arte. She recently participated in the Guadalajara International Book Fair.


Julia Martínez Martínez is a passionate writer with deep roots in Guanajuato. She has shared her work at literary gatherings in Abasolo and Tupátaro.


Verónica Salazar García is a talented writer whose dedication to the literary arts continues to inspire others.


Lucina Kathmann: born in the United States she has written books in English and Spanish versions including Public Spaces, Private Places and Payshapes and the bear (children's stories), A Forest of Mathematics (a unique genre, mathematics in short stories), is a vice president emerita of the worldwide organization of writers PEN International --A fragment of her text Double Jeopardy: Journalist and Woman: Mexico is the second country most dangerous to practice journalism, second only to Syria, which is at war. Year after year it is so. Why? One reason that everybody admits is impunity. According to government statistics, only 4 % of the crimes reported get to a court.


Their commitment to writing and the arts has touched many lives. We are honored to recognize their achievements and the lasting impact they’ve made.
