San Miguel PEN was delighted to again have an information table at the annual San Miguel Writers’ Conference at the Hotel Real de Minas. The table—staffed by volunteers Sharon Steeber (SM PEN President), Lucina Kathmann (Treasurer), Elizabeth Starčević, Beverly Hill and Susan Thurston, and located in a leafy spot near the Conference bookstore—enabled attendees to stop by and learn about PEN and its worldwide mission to promote literature and support the freedom to write and read. They could also join PEN on the spot and receive a PEN pen with the San Miguel PEN logo to help keep PEN and its values close at hand!

During the conference, internationally acclaimed novelist, poet, San Miguel PEN member and PEN International President Emerita Jennifer Clement also spoke out for PEN in a talk on D. H. Lawrence and PEN México.
